Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Jewish Family Service Of MetroWest

You’re 5 years old and you are brought to therapy by your father to process the death of your mother. You’re 15 and you tell your parents you need to talk to someone because no one understands the pain and isolation you feel. You’re 27, with a history of substance abuse, and you’re having trouble keeping a job. You’re 35 and you’ve just taken your 9-year-old and left your abusive husband but you don’t know what you’re going to do next. You’re 80 and your husband has dementia but you don’t know how to help him and still take care of yourself.

Since 1861, Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ (JFS) has been helping children, teens, couples, adults, older adults and families manage life’s challenges and enhance their well being. We provide support to all, regardless of religion, race, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or socio-economic status in Essex, Morris, Sussex and North Union counties.

This holiday season, we need your support more than ever as we embark on an ambitious mission to raise $500,000 by 12/31 to support our programs benefiting vulnerable members of our community who rely on our services.

Individuals and families continue to face challenges even in strong, vibrant and diverse communities like ours. We can all relate to those impacted by the struggles of mental health, caregiving, financial insecurity and the stress of living in unpredictable times.

Your contribution to JFS will directly impact your family, friends and neighbors.

Together, we will build a healthier and stronger community!

With your help, we can continue to:

Provide counseling to more children and adolescents.

Expand individualized case management for our aging community.

Respond to increasing numbers of domestic violence victims and their families, including over 600 calls to our hotline.

Care for over 220 Holocaust survivors and their second-generation caregivers, their children.

Offer compassionate and efficient intake and referral services. We respond to more than 2,400 calls for assistance each year.

JFS is proud of how we adapt to the ever-changing needs of our community, and we are excited about our newest offerings.

Volunteer Caregiver Respite Program: Volunteers regularly visit primary caregivers’ loved ones, enabling caregivers to get a break while knowing their family member is supervised and safe.

Mental Health Support to Local College Students: Given the recent rise in antisemitism, as well as the more normative challenges college students and young adults face, JFS is providing clinical support for students and staff at six local universities: Montclair State University, Kean University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Seton Hall University, Fairleigh Dickinson University (Florham Park) and Rutgers-Newark.
