(Courtesy of Jewish Federation of MetroWest NJ) Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ (“Federation”) announced that Dov Ben-Shimon plans to step down as chief executive officer, following a successful 10-year tenure at Federation. Steven D. Levy, immediate past president of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest, will serve as interim CEO until a permanent replacement is identified.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to sincerely thank Dov for his commitment to our Federation and the communities we serve,” said Michael Goldberg, president of the board of Jewish Federation. “Dov has been an exemplary leader in a challenging time for the worldwide Jewish community, during which he worked tirelessly to foster an environment of inclusivity and growth. We wish him the best in his next chapter.”

Ben-Shimon was named CEO of Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ in June 2014. During his tenure, he positioned Federation as an effective and inclusive convener for the entire community. Under Ben-Shimon’s leadership, Federation and Jewish Community Foundation raised and granted over $1 billion to support the community and care for those in need. Ben-Shimon was instrumental in Federation’s successful Centennial Year and Campaign, as well as the two largest missions in Federation’s history.

“Looking back, I’m grateful for the opportunities that I received as executive to work with amazing lay leaders, to create innovative programs and departments, and to hire personally many of the talented and inspiring professionals who make this community better every day,” said Ben-Shimon. “I’m proud that we’ve created a three-month family leave policy, salary transparency policy, and massively expanded our commitment to our synagogues, our agencies, and our next generations. We’ve built programs and platforms to welcome and include newcomers and long-timers alike and deepened our commitment to community engagement. Our work is sacred.”

Interim CEO Levy most recently served as president of the board of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest and has also served in leadership positions at the Gottesman RTW Academy, the Gottesman Family Supporting Foundation and the Pennington Leadership Council. Levy has deep financial and corporate experience, having worked as a securities analyst for leading investment banks and served on several public boards. Levy currently serves on the board of Allot Communications (NASDAQ: ALLT).

Goldberg announced that Federation has named Jane Wilf and Peter Langerman, both esteemed and long-standing community leaders, as the co-chairs of the search committee. They will identify and convene a search committee that will conduct a formal search for the next CEO.
