Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Yom Ha’Atzmaut at JKHA was a jam-packed day that balanced meaningful celebrations with abundant joy to mark Israel’s 77th birthday. Lower school was excited to start the day all together with a celebratory Hallel. Afterwards they joined all of JKHA Middle School and RKYHS on the outdoor recreation space for a full school tekes and chagigah. All in attendance were wowed by a spectacular daglanut dance by the eighth grade girls, followed by lively dancing!

Middle schoolers participated in Israel-focused STEM activities, trivia and more before taking to the stage in the 12th annual Kochavei Kushner Israeli music talent competition where student groups expertly danced and sang to contemporary Hebrew music. Lower school students were busy with army training, Israeli art, programs with the Bnot Sherut, science projects on Israeli irrigation and more. A fun outdoor carnival was a highlight for all divisions!

The day ended together as a school as well, with a unifying kumsitz with special guests the Y-Studs! The school is grateful to the Kushner Parent Activities Committee for providing a delicious BBQ lunch for the whole school that enhanced the day.
