JKHA Celebrates Israel at 68

The halls of JKHA were buzzing with excitement, activity and celebration for Yom Ha’atzmaut. The day began with the entire school gathering to sing the Hatikvah in unison. The Epstein-Stein auditorium was filled with their voices singing as one.

The Lower School students spent the day touring the modern State of Israel. Highlights of their visit included a stop at Technion University in Haifa to learn about magnetism, venturing to Tzfat to learn different forms of artistic expression, joining Maccabi Tel Aviv in the gym, experimenting with salt water at the Dead Sea, building the skyline of Jerusalem and tasting the flavors of the seven species.

In addition, the Lower School joined together with fellow Greater MetroWest Day Schools (Golda Och Academy, JEC and Gottesman RTW Academy) to sing Hatikvah together through a video conference and to sing yom huledet sameach to Israel.

The Middle School filled the atrium with ruach as they celebrated Israel with a chagigah, complete with festive dancing and singing. The Middle School students then had their time to shine on the stage with the annual Kochavei Kushner talent competition. The beautiful weather was the perfect setting for team building activities with Rabbi Tani Prero, and the students also participated in Israeli Football and in-depth learning about the mitzvot of the Land of Israel.

The JKHA students enjoyed a barbecue lunch in the perfect spring weather, further enhancing the day’s celebrations.
