The JKHA seventh grade participated in a co-curricular trip to explore historical Philadelphia. They began their day at the Ben Franklin Institute where the students explored hands-on exhibits. They then learned about the beginnings of American Jewish history at Temple Mikveh Israel, the oldest synagogue in America, and had the unique opportunity to meet with the Rabbi, gaining insight into the history and significance of this historic synagogue. Next, they were able to visit the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, and learned about the writing and signing of the Constitution. Students then had the opportunity to see “Freedom Rising” at the National Constitution Center which complemented their knowledge and understanding of the Bill of Rights. The students’ day concluded with a delicious Chinese food dinner!
