(Courtesy of JKHA sports) The JKHA Girls Hockey team continues their stellar season with an impressive 4–1 victory over Moriah in the first round of the playoffs this week. The Cobras wasted no time setting the tone, bringing energy and intensity from the opening whistle. Just forty seconds into the game, Taylor Tarzik capitalized on a loose ball and chipped it into the offensive zone. Captain Annie Orbach pounced on the opportunity, firing it into the net to give the Cobras an early lead. Minutes later, Captain Yael Rosenberg found herself trapped in the corner—until she spun out of pressure, took a shot, and scored, doubling the Cobras’ advantage.
The second period saw both teams battling hard. In the middle of a shift change, Annie took control in the corner, skillfully dribbling while looking for an opening. She found it—sending a perfect pass to Yael in front of the net, who buried her second goal of the game.
Moriah wasn’t ready to back down and looked to capitalize on any mistakes. A clearing pass up the middle connected with one of their players, who managed to score and cut the Cobras’ lead to 3–1. But that would be the last time Moriah got on the board. Aviva Lipper stood tall in net, turning away shot after shot—27 in total—to keep the Cobras comfortably ahead.
In the third period, the Cobras sealed the win. Yael, once again in the corner, saw a gap and took it—rifling the ball into the back of the net to complete her hat trick and secure the victory.
For her dominant performance, Yael Rosenberg was awarded the coveted team MVP snake, COBY. With the win, the Cobras now advance to Round Two of the playoffs, full of confidence and ready for whatever comes next.
