JKHA Kindergarteners Learn All About Me

The “All About Me” program in the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy kindergarten helps children build a sense of self and willingness to share their unique qualities with their peers. Every week a different child had a chance to shine and share articles from home that are special to them by putting them on display in the classroom “Me Museum.” With their families, every child designed a poster filled with photographs and information to display what is special to them. Each day of their special week, the “star student” developed their public speaking skills by sharing one of their objects with the class. The rest of the class learned how to be good active listeners and had the chance to ask questions or make connections with the star student. Parents were invited to share some family favorites such as a book, hobby, or game, or simply to talk about their child. This was a great opportunity for every child to shine and for the classroom community to learn what makes them special.
