Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Early childhood and lower school at JKHA are continuing the popular #MiddotMatter program it launched last year, introducing middot (positive character traits) as a teachable skill for the whole division. Throughout the year, new concepts are taught that invite students, teachers and parents to use common language in reinforcing these skills.

Each middah learned includes a video and visuals in the classrooms and in the hallways to remind students of the middot focus. When students demonstrate middot mastery, they earn special recognition sticker decals to celebrate their achievement!

To kick off the school year, students are reviewing key concepts from last year and many have already earned the new decals for exhibiting positive middot. The division gathered last Friday to kick off this year’s program in their new custom Middot Matter shirts. So far, they have reviewed the skill of “hi”—the skills of prosocial engagement and eye contact. Other middot that will be reviewed include “What’s the Question?” “Weigh the Way You Say It,” and “Slicha.”
