Howdy friends! We sure had some good a capella music this sefira zman. And just like that, it’s time for live music again. Our musicians have not disappointed us and each day new music drops, one better than the next.
We had the pleasure of spending some time with Gad Elbaz, a favorite of mine for decades. In fact, I listened to his dad, Benny, back in the day. Gad was engaged in a special mitzvah for IDF soldiers and we joined the effort. By the way, Gad gives the best brachot ….
Music is part of healing for our IDF and for all of us, no doubt. It’s no wonder then that so many of our musicians have joined our chaplain ranks. D.J. Al has always known the power of music as he approaches his 50-year anniversary of bringing good music to the world on live radio and together we approach our fourth anniversary of joining forces in music and marriage.
Sid Rosenberg of WABC Radio fame was appointed to the Holocaust Memorial Museum Council by President Trump. Rosenberg has used his radio voice and microphone to speak out for Israel and the Jewish people with great courage. Each of us has a part to play, with or without a mic.
Ishay Ribo and his wife had a new baby. Mazel tov! May the family continue to have the koach to reenergize our soldiers and people with song.
Yoni Z and his lovely new wife appeared on a podcast in order to give hope for singles looking for their soulmates. We know holidays are difficult. For those who are alone or who feel alone, we hear you and our welcome mat is out. Our own “chapter 2” is proof it’s never too late.
Mordechai Shapiro’s new song, “Kivinu/Trying My Best,” is a great English ballad and chock full of meaning. Gad Elbaz composed a special song for Jerusalem Day, calling it a love song to Jerusalem.
“The Cave” by Alex Clare and AFIkoMAN, a Thank You Hashem Nation collaboration, is a great song with great music video visuals. Another great music video is Avi Ganz’s “Ivdu” with a beautiful beach background. “Efen Di Tir” is a meaningful collaboration by Shmili Landau and Sruly Green. “Vayidom Aharon” by Ari Samet is a deep song which sure got me thinking.
Yossi Green and Yossi Zucker put out “Reichtum,” a Yiddish song, as variety is the spice of life. Yoni Z’s “Ya-Yalla” is leibidig. Yoni said his music is coming from a deeper place now, as a newly married fellow. I see what he means and we can hear the depth.
Our winner of the month goes to Aryeh Rubin’s “Panim Yafot,” refreshingly new.
Well, we hope everyone enjoyed the Lag B’Omer celebrations. Shout out with a special military salute to all of our veterans this Memorial Day and every day. Congratulations to all the graduates! Looking forward to Shavuot, as the big countdown comes to a conclusion. May our hostages and soldiers return safely. Wishing all a meaningful Yom Tov filled with connection and song, of course. Thank you Hashem!
