Mr. Weinblatt’s missive (“News Publications Should Provide All the Facts,” February 9, 2017) opens with his lament that he is coerced to read your publication, which presents local, national and international news with topical analysis, which disturbs his Shabbat and is unfair and unbalanced. He then launches into a partisan discussion regarding recent protests and Trump’s executive immigration order. He provides a litany of seven immigrants who performed acts of support of terrorism, five of which occurred in the U.S. and two outside. He asks us to accept the canard that little to no vetting takes place. He compares the U.S.’s policy favorably with other nations, e.g., Iran. These are “the facts.”

Data states that 82 percent of terrorist acts that have occurred on U.S. soil were committed by native-born U.S. citizens. Oklahoma City, Columbine, Aurora, Sandy Hook Elementary School and Charlotte were carried out by individuals promulgating extremist policies, e.g., combating ZOG (Zionist Occupied Government), initiating race wars and/or pursuing personal demons.

Trump’s executive order was ill-conceived and poorly executed. It ignores the existence of the current arduous vetting processes, which involves the U.N., FBI, CIA and Homeland Security over at least a two-year period. No definition was given to the “extreme vetting” process that Trump requires at this time. Perhaps it is in the same file as his “secret plan” for defeating ISIS. The fine print of this order exempts religious minorities. No doubt this reflects Trump’s overflowing empathy for the Yazidis, Zoroastrians and Baha’is and is not solely limited to fellow Christians. Iraqi translators, who enabled our troops, have been abandoned to their fate. U.S. citizens with dual citizenship, green card holders and a young girl scheduled for cardiac surgery were prevented from returning to or entering the land of the free.

I wonder if Mr. Weinblatt regards the protests on behalf of the freeloading rancher, McBundy, whose supporters were training their military assault weapons and sniper rifles on federal officials, as the expression of their right to freely and peacefully protest. He ends with the now standard riposte of the right wing... schoolyard taunts. Undoubtedly, he is reserving his wit, drollery and piercing logic for his next epistle for review in your weekday edition.
