Why America Is Burning

Over the past week, we have been inundated by sermons and written missives about racial justice. Most of your readers intuitively understand that we must judge people by their behavior, not their ethnic background. In the course of our daily lectures, barely a mention is made of the racial incitement committed by so-called “leaders” over the past few decades decrying the alleged prejudice of most Americans. This has risen to a crescendo during the presidency of Donald Trump in a desperate attempt to detract from his accomplishments that have benefited most Americans.

Now the chickens have come home to roost. The arsonists have lit fires all over our country and now they have become much more difficult to extinguish. And what do many of us decent people do, perhaps even inadvertently? Just pour more fuel over the fires these arsonists have set, while handing them additional matches. I, for one, am sick and tired of these false accusations of racism, prejudice and unfairness. What should infuriate us is the resulting anarchy and the massive damage around the nation we are all seeing on TV.

I’ve had enough of the preaching by those who have contributed only discord and resentment and I feel no guilt about the alleged plight of their target audience. Their condition is caused mostly by their own arsonist leaders and the foolish, pandering politicians trying to win their favor and their vote. I am proud to hold my own head up high, fully comfortable with wanting our country to operate under an ethos of fairness and justice for all. Isn’t that what our Torah demands of us?
