Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Statement From the Jewish Community Council of Greater Teaneck and the Northern NJ Holocaust Memorial & Education Center

The Jewish Community Council of Greater Teaneck and the Northern New Jersey Holocaust Memorial & Education Center wish to express our condolences to the family of George Floyd and to express our solidarity with the African-American community in their fight against racial injustice.

We live in difficult times that tax the souls of all of us. The forces of evil are gaining ground, and more than ever we need to confront these injustices forcefully. The Jewish Community Council of Greater Teaneck condemns all forms of hatred, racism and discrimination and we pledge to stand together with our brethren in the African-American community to eradicate these plagues that have proliferated in our society.

We are also continuing to work with the Enslaved African Memorial Committee (EAMC) on our common goals to build a memorial to Enslaved Africans and one memorializing the Holocaust on the Teaneck Municipal Green. This “Garden to Nurture Human Understanding” is more important than ever to foster communal harmony, and mutual respect.

For more information on these planned memorials go to nnjholocaustmemorial.org and www.eamcnj.org.
