Thank You to President Trump

The display of vitriol towards our 45th president in some of your letters to the editor is sad. It is true that Donald Trump would at times post unseemly or distasteful tweets. So what? And since when is exhorting hundreds of thousands of your supporters to “march peacefully” an impeachable act, not to mention an insurrection? From the day he assumed his presidency, Trump was under non-stop verbal assault from most of the media and the Democrat party (one and the same) as well as from various poseurs in his own party, all while hiding their own wrongdoing.

Despite all the efforts of this filthy swamp, he engineered a roaring economy, bypassed miles of bureaucratic hurdles to bring vaccines to market to help overcome the pandemic, and kept us out of wars while overseeing a peace process in the Mideast in which Israel did not have to cede one inch of land. He rightly recognized that American citizens’ needs must be served before those who have entered our borders illegally. These are only a few highlights of his many achievements over the past four years.

President Trump will be sorely missed by many, especially in the Orthodox Jewish community. If you find yourself scoffing at this thought, fasten your seatbelts for a dangerous ride down an anti-Torah socialist path. President Trump, many will not forget your friendship to us.

Finally, if the Democrats and their supporters had applied similar law and order standards this past summer as they apply to Jan. 6, numerous lives would have been spared, thousands of businesses would have been saved, billions of dollars in property damage could have been avoided and hundreds of Democrats in charge of cities around the country would be indicted. Moreover, monuments to our rich and envied history would still be on proud display and not hidden from those too young to know it. Is our history wholly unblemished? No, it is not. But we have always learned from our mistakes.

Sadly, our wonderful country, for so long a beacon of justice for the rest of the world, has been severely damaged by the very forces who will be in charge for the foreseeable future. One can only hope our historic resiliency will once again allow us to bounce back. Hashem Yerachem Oleinu.
