As a longtime councilwoman in Bergenfield and member of the Jewish community, I am proud to express my strong support for Assemblywoman Lisa Swain and Assemblyman Chris Tully in this year’s Democratic Primary Election, District 38, on June 10.
Beyond words, Lisa and Chris have delivered meaningful action for the Jewish community. Thanks to their influential voices in the legislature, funding for nonpublic school security and transportation has increased year over year. That means more cameras, security personnel and safer facilities for our yeshivas and day schools. As a parent, councilwoman and nonpublic school administrator, I can tell you there is nothing more important than knowing our kids are protected when they walk into school each day.
Their commitment is not seasonal or symbolic; it’s consistent and sincere. Long before the devastating events of October 7, Lisa and Chris recognized the urgent need to confront and denounce antisemitism. They were among the first to support the IHRA definition of antisemitism in Trenton. Most importantly, they have been proactive, outspoken and unwavering in standing with the Jewish community against antisemitism in all its forms.
Lisa Swain and Chris Tully understand and respond to the needs of our community, and they’ve never hesitated to stand with us in both moments of celebration and challenge.
I urge my neighbors in District 38, which includes Bergenfield and nearby towns of New Milford and Fair Lawn, to continue to support these dedicated public servants by voting for them on June 10.
