Pre-k students at Lubavitch on the Palisades did a science experiment which helped them understand important concepts from the Chanukah story. The children added oil to a bottle of water and predicted what would happen to the mixture once the two liquids were mixed. The children were amazed to see that the oil consistently rose to the top. The children learned that in the Chanukah story the Greeks wanted the Jewish people to mix into their culture and lose their traditions. Like the oil would not lose its consistency when mixed with the water, the Jewish values and traditions were saved when the Maccabim won the war against the Greek army.
