JFSCNJ/Alzheimer’s NJ Offers Free Monthly Caregiver Support Group

(Courtesy of JFSCNJ) Jewish Family Service of Central NJ (JFSCNJ) joins Alzheimer’s New Jersey to offer a free monthly virtual Alzheimer’s/Dementia Caregiver Support Group that will now take place on Wednesdays from 1-2:15 p.m. The new dates for the groups are: March 8, April 19, May 10 and June 14.

The group, led by Bonnie Freirich, LCSW, JFSCNJ director of dementia programs, is free and open to Alzheimer’s/dementia caregivers in the community, and is run in accordance with the Alzheimer’s New Jersey guidelines.

Freirich is a licensed clinical social worker with over 30 years of experience providing evidence-based mental health services to a wide range of clients. She is a graduate of New York University’s School of Social Work. In addition to leading the Caregiver Support Group, Freirich oversees the innovative Coffee House Day Program for those who have memory loss, which takes place three days a week: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Temple Sholom, 1925 Lake Avenue, Scotch Plains, New Jersey.

The support group is not appropriate for those with the dementia diagnosis. Participants are welcome to join the group at any time but need to contact Freirich in advance to receive the Zoom link. Registration is recommended if you plan to attend, or if you would like more information about the services and programs offered through JFSCNJ for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia disorders. Contact Bonnie Freirich at [email protected], 908-352-8375.
