Moriah is thrilled about first-graders’ smooth transition from kindergarten. Their adaptability and readiness for school have been remarkable. They have begun the year with enthusiasm and are ready to explore and learn. They are embracing greater responsibility for taking care of their materials and showing accountability for their work.

They embarked on the iTalam program with an amazing surprise! The children were thrilled when a special lion, Ariot , (thank you Erik Kessler), arrived for an in-person visit to initiate the iTalam Hebrew language program. Students love the iTalam colorful workbooks, songs and computer games. They feel so grown up as they learn how to read new words and simple stories in Hebrew. The children enjoy working in their new Hebrew workbooks, singing the songs and learning how to read new words and letters in Hebrew. Forming letters out of blocks, crayons and pretzels are fun ways we reinforce the letters. The children are looking forward to beginning working on their own computers in the iTalam program after the chagim.

Classes are deeply immersed in preparation for Rosh Hashana. They enjoy learning about the chag, making projects, singing songs, working in the colorful iTalam books and playing iTalam‘s special computer and teacher-made games.

Teachers are so proud of how nicely the children are embracing the first-grade procedures and expectations. They are becoming independent and responsible students. Having homework for the first time is also a treat for them. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year!
