On a beautiful day for baseball, the MTA Lions traveled to take on the Kushner Cobras and came out on top with a 2-0 win. Eytan Richman was absolutely lights-out on the mound for MTA, throwing a complete game shutout and racking up 10 strikeouts. The Kushner hitters just had no answer for him all game.
The Lions got all the offense they needed in the top of the second inning. Yehuda Klavan got on base after a dropped third strike, and then Mark Rosenstock followed it up with a single to put runners on first and second. Joe Mogul came up clutch, hitting an infield single that somehow drove in both runners after some chaos on the basepaths. It ended up being the difference in the game.

Defensively, MTA was locked in too. Catcher Isaac Kantowitz had a monster game behind the plate, throwing out not one but two runners trying to steal second. Then in the bottom of the sixth, Joe Mogul made what was probably the play of the game. After catching a fly ball in right field, a Kushner runner tried to tag up and score — bad idea. Joe absolutely gunned him down at the plate for a double play and completely killed any momentum Kushner had.
Overall, it was just a complete team win for MTA. Great pitching, great defense, and just enough offense to get it done.
