Nevut Ride and Run: A Day of Community and Commitment

(Courtesy of Nevut) Last Sunday morning, 160 dedicated riders gathered at Chabad on the Palisades in Tenafly for the much-anticipated Nevut Ride and Run event, an initiative raising money for Nevut, an organization committed to providing essential resources and emotional support to IDF lone soldiers who protect Am Yisrael.

As the sun rose, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Riders checked in, received their jerseys and swag bags, and fueled up with snacks and energy drinks.

The day officially kicked off with davening, followed by the blowing of the shofar and the traveler’s prayer. A heartfelt moment unfolded as Eden Alexander’s father shared the story of his son, a lone soldier currently held hostage in Gaza. This touching tribute was honored with a mezuzah presented to Eden’s father by Nevut, crafted by a lone soldier coping with PTSD and channeling his pain into meaningful art.

With spirits high, singer Yanky Lemmer led the mishaberach for the chayalim, setting the stage for an inspiring video about Nevut. At 8:15 a.m., the bikers launched into the day, tackling either 50 or 100 miles, driven by a shared sense of purpose.

By 11, the runners began to arrive for registration. Much like the bikers, they received their gear and prepared for the challenge ahead. Children from the Chabad school joined in, warming up the runners with a spirited lap around the block. At noon, the runners set off for their 10K and half-marathon routes.

As the morning turned to afternoon, the first bikers crossed the finish line to cheers from the crowd. DJ Pinny Braver energized the atmosphere with music, welcoming the riders as they claimed their Nevut caps, patches and medals. The grill was fired up, serving a delicious feast of chicken, wings, steaks, hotdogs and burgers alongside sweet treats like cotton candy and popcorn.

Throughout the day, groups of riders and runners returned, celebrating their accomplishments and the community spirit that united them for such a worthy cause.

Nevut extended its heartfelt thanks to all participants and fundraisers who dedicated their time and efforts to support lone soldiers. Together, they showcased the strength of community and the importance of standing together for those who serve.
