NJ Sierra Club Hosts Spring Benefit

The Sierra Club is America’s oldest (founded 1892) and largest environmental conservation advocacy group. On June 11, the New Jersey Sierra Club will be hosting its Spring Benefit —“Party to Celebrate Nature”—at Flat Rock Brook Nature Center, 443 Van Nostrand Ave., Englewood, NJ 07631.

Paul Kaufman, an authority on environmental principles and concepts in Judaism and advocacy director at GreenFaith, is among the speakers.

There will be an optional guided hike in the Nature Center at 4 p.m. The festivities kick off at 5 p.m. with kosher food, live music and a live animal presentation by a professional nature educator. There will also be a tricky tray/Chinese auction. This will be a family-friendly event—all ages are welcome!

Admission is free for Sierra Club members, non-members $20.00, non-member families $35.00.

RSVP to 201-567-4994 or [email protected].

The Sierra Club sponsors and runs programs relating to preserving and restoring natural habitats to insure that we all have clean water, soil and air. These take the form of educational lectures, workshops and film screenings. The Sierra Club also sponsors hikes, outings and travel.

The Sierra Club advocates for the enforcement of federal and local environmental laws by organizing meetings between government officials and concerned citizens. It also advocates for private entities to adhere to good environmental practices. The Sierra Club’s legal division utilizes litigation to make sure laws are followed, when other methods fail.

The Sierra Club gladly welcomes new members and their ideas!
