Packing With Love: Families Celebrate Mother’s Day at Yad Leah

(Courtesy of Yad Leah) What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than by giving back?

Families from Hillside, Riverdale, Highland Park, Passaic, Brooklyn, and Teaneck gathered at the Yad Leah warehouse in Passaic for a fun and meaningful day of chesed. The event brought together volunteers of all ages to sort and pack donated American clothing, destined for one of Yad Leah’s 25 stores in Israel.

Whether packing outfits for men, women or children, everyone participated with smiles, teamwork and a sense of shared purpose.

Among the participants was June Aboksis, founder of Junees Modest Apparel, who brought several of her grandchildren and other family members to lend a hand. One of her granddaughters even created a heartfelt card for the recipients in Israel, writing: “I am so happy I get to give you lots of clothing. I really hope that you love the clothing.”

Aboksis has been a strong supporter of Yad Leah over the years, generously donating clothing and helping with outreach efforts. Speaking about the experience, she shared: “Doing chesed and getting my grandchildren involved in helping others is what life is all about. Hashem wants us to give to each other.”

Yad Leah is deeply grateful for Aboksis’ continued commitment and for the many families who chose to celebrate Mother’s Day by giving to others. The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with energy, joy and unity, an inspiring reminder that honoring mothers can go hand in hand with acts of compassion and kindness.
