The greatest basketball season in Park East Day School’s after school sports program history, had one more special treat this past Tuesday night—A beautiful dinner, and a nice sized cake with the entire team on it. Before dinner they had fun up in the gym, from knockout, to who between the parents and kids can get to 100 points shooting the basketballs first. Then everyone on the Park East Day School Panthers CO-ED basketball team got special trophies from Coach Donny Weschler as an extra award for the amazing, historic season,where Park East won 12 total games in the CONSAT league. Along with their first ever championship, medals for winning the league and first ever championship, a runner up silver place trophy in the Ultimate Championship game against Shefa who also had a historic season, this fun Tuesday night up in the gym had one more surprise, the reveal of a Park East first ever championship banner in any sport. The iconic song “We are the Champions” by Queen, played in the background, and then head coach Donny Weschler had the honor of unveiling the banner, which showed all the names of the players of the championship winning team and the historic season. The banner included coach Donny and assistant coach Yair Halpert’s names as well. After the reveal everyone headed downstairs and ended the night with a barbecue dinner with french fries, chicken wings, then the cake for dessert. Congratulations Park East Panthers, on the historic season! And congratulations Park East Day School and Park East Synagogue. Congrats to the students of the Park East Panthers. You deserve it!
