Police and Teens Enjoy CTeen Event at Valley Chabad

(Courtesy of Valley Chabad) Woodcliff Lake Police officers attended a CTeen event at Valley Chabad for a “Coffee with Cops” event with teens. The event was planned to bring the teens and police department closer and for the teens to show appreciation for the officers’ dedication to the community.

The program began with the officers introducing themselves. The teens then asked various questions such as their choice of profession, their challenges as officers and what sense of purpose and mission they feel in what they do.

The teens and officers enjoyed doughnuts and coffee and were then enlisted in a series of competitions such as arm wrestling, cup stacking and “axe” throwing.

Rabbi Yosef and Estie Oresntein, co-directors of the CTeen group, had extended the event invitation to the police through Officer Simon Sherfer, and he immediately accepted. Sherfer, a 12-year veteran of the Woodcliff Lake force, was extremely impressed with the group. “This is such a great opportunity for us to interact and engage with the teens in a fun and relaxed environment,” he said. “To get this kind of teen group together here, when they could be anywhere else, is impressive and so important for our community.”

The teens also decorated mugs for the cops and wrote them letters of appreciation.
