Rachel Wisotsky and Michael Klausner were married June 4 at Temple Emanu-El in Closter, New Jersey. Rabbi Shmuel Goldin of Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood was the mesader kiddushin.

The kallah is the daughter of Drs. Burton and Lisa Wisotsky of Englewood, New Jersey. Rachel is an attorney with Akin Gump in New York City. She graduated from Emory University, magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She received her J.D. from New York University Law School in 2015.

The chatan is the son of Esther and Jack Klausner of Deerfield Beach, Florida. Michael is a dental resident at New York Presbyterian Hospital and Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. He graduated cum laude from Binghamton University with a B.A. in biology and a B.S. in management. He received his D.D.S. from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2017.

Rachel and Michael first met in August 2007 while attending the Shalem gap-year program in Israel. They didn’t see each other again until meeting at a 2014 Purim party at The Brownstone in New York. After discovering their shared appreciation for the carving station, Rachel and Michael found out that they would both be in Florida for Passover the next month and exchanged numbers. In Miami, they danced at the MatzoBall, lounged at the Fontainebleau and played ping pong at Michael’s favorite bar, the Broken Shaker. But with Rachel in law school in New York and Michael in dental school in Baltimore, they only saw each other here and there over the next few months. On January 18, 2015, the couple had a long date that began with brunch and ended later that night at a friend’s apartment where they watched their first Patriots game together (Patriots won). Michael later said he knew he was going to marry Rachel that night. On October 2, 2016, Erev Rosh Hashanah, Michael proposed to Rachel while apple picking at a scenic orchard in New Jersey. Rachel, after a gentle reminder from Michael, of course said yes.

The couple is living in Atlantic Beach, New York.
