Sy Syms School of Business Offers New Master’s Degree in Real Estate

(Courtesy of Yeshiva University) Yeshiva University’s Sy Syms School of Business has added a new Master of Science in real estate to its graduate programs in accounting, taxation and business administration.

The 36-credit program will prepare students for the fast-paced world of real estate through coursework on financial analysis, modeling, analytics, quantitative evaluation, hard asset development and deal-making along with important legal, accounting and tax considerations. The program will give graduates practical experience with actual real estate projects through a required capstone, will feature prominent real-estate professionals as guest lecturers and will be built on a strong academic backbone of knowledge.

“In a powerful real estate market like New York City’s, students need real-world experience in addition to industry knowledge,” said Noam Wasserman, Dean of Sy Syms. “Our foundational courses cover every important aspect of being a real estate professional, and the program ends with students working on a capstone project on an actual development, all done while they build their networks through our faculty and the hundreds of members of our Real Estate Alumni Club and Real Estate Executive Circle. The combination will be a powerful one for students who want to launch a career in real estate.”

“The graduate program in real estate at Sy Syms is the ideal place for the graduate student to gain exposure to cutting-edge thinking in real estate finance,” said founding academic director Andreas Christopoulos. “From joint ventures with architecture schools to leading research in valuation theory to visiting alumni practitioners, Sy Syms will deliver a high-quality and academically intensive program.”

Sy Syms is already receiving a great deal of interest in the program and plans to welcome its first cohort in Fall 2020. To learn more visit https://www.yu.edu/syms/real-estate.
