Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

RKYHS students and JKHA eighth graders had the opportunity to meet with Israeli teens on Zoom over the week during Ivrit classes. It was truly a privilege for students to speak with the students and teachers in the Ort Afridar school in Ashkelon and hear their firsthand experiences living through a war in their homeland. Additional meetings between Israeli youth and North American youth were organized by the Department of Hebrew and Culture at the World Zionist Organization, and provided an opportunity for an open discussion about the current situation in Israel. During the Zoom meetings with all the different students, the Israeli students shared how their lives have changed since October 7, and their thoughts and personal feelings regarding the war, in a friendly and sensitive atmosphere. Both meetings allowed the opportunity for an open discussion about the current situation in Israel. The North American students asked questions, in order to get a firsthand sense from peers about what is happening in Israel as students spoke in both Hebrew and English.
