Senior sessions for the RKYHS Class of 2025 began this week. Senior Sessions is a participatory, educational experience for the twelfth graders that prepares them for their next chapters post graduation.
The programs kicked off this week with Ben Hoffer who discussed “Understanding who you are, what you need and ways to make this perspective real,” a panel with RKYHS recent alumni Sam Colchamiro, a student at Harvard, and Chandler Shriky, a student at Brown, spoke about life on a college campus, and the first day concluded with representatives from the Family Service League of Essex County who spoke to the students about sexual assault on the College Campus.
On day two students had the privilege to hear a candid talk from Mr Charles Kushner who spoke about his history and path to success and imparted lasting lessons that he’s learned both in and out of the workplace. They then heard from David Orbach who discussed the basics of personal finance, and met with Sarit Anstandia from JLIC of Binghamton regarding Orthodoxy and University life, and Rabbi Elliot Mathias from Aish about responding to Israel bashing and Antisemitism on campus. Senior sessions also brought the seniors to the 9/11 Tribute Center, Memorial fountains and Museum and the Freedom Tower. Senior Sessions will continue in week two as the seniors take part in these sessions to prepare them for their next steps in life post RKYHS.
