RKYHS 11th and 12th graders had the opportunity to hear from Sarah Gordon from the organization Unpacked on how to best use social media in a time of war. Gordon is the senior director of Israel Education for Unpacked, an organization that produces Jewish history and Israel content through videos, podcasts and articles, and breaks it down with context, clarity and nuance to help people stay informed. Using clear, easy to digest videos and slides, Gordon presented to students on how they can distinguish between anti-Zionism vs. antisemitism, how they can effectively use social media and the importance of using their voice. She shared useful best practices for how to respond to antisemitism online, the importance of deciphering reliable sources, how they can use their social media platform, no matter the size, for good and their obligation to educate and empower themselves, especially while they are students at RKYHS before they embark on their next chapters.
