Yom Hashoah was a meaningful and impactful day at RPRY as they commemorated those who perished in the Holocaust. Throughout the day, at various times, Rabbi Ribalt read names over the loudspeaker of RPRY community family members who perished while students stopped to honor them.

Upper elementary students participated in an inspiring and age-appropriate program that featured RPRY alumnus and parent Mr. Donny Epstein, who spoke about the acclaimed Paper Clips Documentary, which he helped create, the impact it had, and the concept of one mitzvah leading to another mitzvah.

Middle school students participated in a multi-media performance of eighth grade students, which included acting, singing and video about the resilience, hope and faith in the Warsaw Ghetto, which segued into scenes of spiritual heroes from October 7. Students came away from the moving program with lessons that would be long-lasting.

At lunch, middle School students who have been studying Mishna Yomi marked a recent siyum in honor of their completion of מסכת עדיות and as a memory for the kedoshim. RPRY is confident that the messages of this more serious day will resonate and instill within the students a sense of Jewish pride, emunah and responsibility and that the learning from Yom HaShoah will be a זכות for the six million who perished.
