RPRY Participates in Animal Research Project

This past week, RPRY second-grade students completed their Animal Research Projects. Each student chose to research an animal they were interested in. They learned how to find information using books, the National Geographic for Kids website, and Ducksters. The students enjoyed collecting information about their animals’ habitats, diets and physical characteristics. They looked up specific details and took notes throughout the process. After completing a graphic organizer, they then transferred their research onto index cards. Once the information was written down, they added photographs they found and glued them to the back of each card. Using the hangers they brought from home, they created mobiles with their cards.

The final projects are now displayed hanging in the classroom, and the students invited the first and third graders to visit and see the finished work. The second graders enjoyed sharing what they learned, and the other students appreciated discovering new and interesting facts. The projects will be sent home with the students at the end of next week.
