SAR Academy and High School students visited the Neutra family during their shiva, mourning the loss of Omer Neutra, HY”D, who was tragically murdered by Hamas on October 7, 2023. The visit was deeply personal for the SAR community, as students Max and Spencer S., Omer’s third cousins, and Noah Lee, science teacher, who accompanied the students on the shiva visit and who knew Omer from USY, were able to connect directly with the family. Tamara R., another cousin, had previously shared Omer’s story in her history class, bringing awareness to his plight and inspiring meaningful discussions. Rachel M-G., who created silver cuff bracelets engraved with the names of hostages—including one worn by Omer’s father, Ronen—received heartfelt thanks from Ronen, who expressed his deep appreciation and emotional connection to her initiative. The students also had the opportunity to hear from an IDF officer who has been working with the family from the very beginning, about how inspiring Omer and his family are.
