LPS Holds Third Annual Science Day

On Tuesday, January 12, students in grades kindergarten through sixth participated in the Lubavitch on the Palisades annual Science Day. Ten stations were set up for students to explore, experiment and learn. The teachers and sixth graders organized meaningful and educational activities. Topics included buoyancy, chemical reactions, osmosis and mitosis, air pressure, balance, crystallization, cells, nutrition and rocks and minerals. The sixth grade students created a station about cells, and showed and explained their cell projects to students from the other grades who circulated around the room. The ‘guest’ students colored a diagram of a cell while learning about the functions of each part of the cell. Mussi Tilson, an LPS first grader, said, “My favorite experiment was learning about water, a cup and a tea bag to learn about diffusion.” Ava Nagel enjoyed the buoyancy station. Students predicted whether certain objects would sink or float and then tested and recorded the data.
