LPS Takes Pride in New Student Success

Aner Sharan joined the second grade of LPS at the start of the 2015-2016 school year when he and his family moved to Tenafly from Israel. He came to the school unable to read or speak in English. After 100 days in school, he is now a proficient English speaker, reader, and writer. The faculty of LPS is proud of his accomplishments. The LPS morot worked very closely with Aner and with his family. Morah Sophia sat with Aner during General Studies to help him translate and comprehend. Mrs. Shatkin and Morah Stephanie pulled Aner out of class daily to work on his English. Marion Leiken from Bergen County Special Services also met with Aner outside the classroom, once a week for ELL sessions. What a success story! Aner is now fully mainstreamed and he is an integral part of the second grade class.
