TABC Honors Class of 2020 At Memorable Senior Dinner

In what has become the new norm of gathering, the Class of 2020 came “together” last Thursday night, along with faculty, to celebrate the annual senior dinner via Zoom. After the playing of the anthems, TABC Principal Arthur J. Poleyeff gave a brief introduction to the program and then welcomed Rabbi Shaya Kilimnick, grandfather of Doniel ‘15, Yonah ‘18, Raanan ‘20, Ezzie ‘20 and incoming freshman, Gavi ‘24. It has become TABC’s tradition for each year’s senior class to receive words of inspiration and bracha from a distinguished rabbi/TABC grandparent. Head of School Rabbi Asher Yablok, who shared his four years at TABC with this class, also gave warm words of greeting and thanked them for the yearbook dedication which was very meaningful to him. A siyum, led by Ezra Seplowitz, Mikey Schwartz, Ephraim Helfgot and Yonason Rutta, capped off the first part of the program.

After a coordinated eating of the delicious The Humble Toast meals distributed earlier in the day and some Zoom schmoozing, Poleyeff introduced the awards ceremony, where a number of graduation awards were bestowed on students ranging from service to midot, athletics, math, history and more. Helfgot was named the valedictorian of the class, and Ezra Baron and Schwartz were named salutatorians. The evening concluded with a moving video tribute to the senior class made by the faculty, where each student was featured with a personal video message from a faculty member, accompanied by a photo montage. While it may not have been what the seniors envisioned as their end-of-year dinner, it was certainly a memorable occasion celebrating a special group of young men. Mazal tov, Class of 2020!
