Ma’ayanot Students Deepen Learning With Academic Concentrations

At Ma’ayanot, students learn what they love and love what they learn! Beginning in freshman year, students choose an academic concentration, allowing them to pursue their passions and develop their skills under the guidance of master teachers. Three years of coursework in her concentration earns a student a notation on her transcript. Ma’ayanot’s concentrations are:

Matmidot: Students delve deeply into advanced limudei kodesh texts, exploring essential questions. Freshman Nava Price noted she appreciates that “Matmidot gives me the unique opportunity to learn Torah on a very high level in a small group setting.”

Communications: Students develop their communication skills across multiple platforms, including writing, public speaking and digital media. Freshman Miri Rubinstein explained, “I love the class because I can choose topics that I am passionate about.”

Performing Arts: Freshman Sophie Fine enthused, “I have always loved being on stage and expressing myself. In class, we start with a fun improv and work on a script of a play or musical!”

Health Sciences: This concentration begins with brain and behavior, exploring the biological roots of actions, decisions and emotional experiences. Freshman Atara Friedman shared, “I really enjoy all of the interactive work that we do. It makes learning about the brain fun, exciting, and intriguing!”

Spanish: A three-year intensive language immersion program which also includes cultural explorations. Freshman Avigayil Cyrulnik praised the class’s dynamism: “We do a lot of active speaking in class, and I have learned so much!”

Fine Arts: This concentration includes multiple media and approaches art as a journey, preparing students for lifelong artistic learning and expression. Freshman Baila Gopin noted, “Art helps me to express my creativity and appreciate all the beauty around me in the world.”

Each of these academic concentrations includes experiential components that enhance students’ learning and expose them to best practices in the field.
