Just before the Pesach break, the fifth grade students at WDS took advantage of their school being on the beach of the Long Island Sound to enhance their learning of Shemot! They were tasked with having to engineer recipes for making a sturdy clay brick from clay, sand, straw and water, much as our ancestors did when they were in Egypt. The students worked in pairs to carefully record the quantity of each material used. Each pair then mixed their recipe and spooned it into silicone molds hoping their recipes would set like the bricks in Egypt.
