Last week, TABC’s 9 grade biology students learned about the proper use and handling of a microscope through the examination of its parts and functions. They identified what occurs to an image when under a microscope by viewing the letter “e” as being reversed and inverted. They also calculated the total magnifications of their images by multiplying their eyepiece magnifications by their objective magnifications. Once the students felt comfortable with focusing their microscopes through the different powers, they used their newly acquired skills to view various cool premade slides.
