(Courtesy of SINAI Schools) Helping students, especially students with learning and developmental disabilities, reach their full potential requires warm, sensitive, creative and talented teachers.

“The national shortage of qualified teachers in Jewish and special education is well-documented,” said Rabbi Dr. Yisrael Rothwachs, Leo Brandstatter z”l dean of SINAI Schools. “Addressing this challenge is a prerequisite to fulfilling our mission of helping each of our students maximize their academic, emotional, social and spiritual potential.”

The new SINAI Schools Teacher Residency Program is recruiting individuals to become exceptional special education teachers through a highly supportive school-based teacher training program.

Over the two-year program, recent college graduates will train in SINAI classrooms with mentor teachers and take on increasing responsibility for teaching while pursuing graduate studies and participating in ongoing professional development, including workshops and coaching. Resident teachers will be compensated for full-time work, receive a stipend for graduate studies, and are eligible for all the benefits provided to SINAI employees.

The program is designed for college graduates interested in becoming special education teachers and is open to anyone who has earned or will earn their bachelor’s degree before September 2025.

“We are looking for individuals with a passion for teaching who want a career that will let them go home every day knowing they have made a significant difference in the lives of children and their families,” said Judi Karp, associate dean of SINAI.

The first cohort of SINAI Teacher Residents will begin in September of 2025. Applications are available at www.sinaischools.org/teacher-residency-program.
