Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

On Sunday, November 10, at the BPY gym, parents at the 11:30 a.m. game had a treat, watching their little ladies compete at a level they had never seen before. The matchup between The Humble Toast vs. Growing Smiles was a nail biter from start to finish. Amira Fleischmann was the little engine that could for Growing Smiles in the first half, scoring six of the team’s eight points. The difference maker for Growing Smiles, tying it at eight at the end of the second quarter, was the break away basket by Aliza Gruber.

When Humble Toast’s defense locked onto Fleischmann, Nava Moskowitz, was all offense for The Humble Toast. She shot a perfect four for four from the field scoring nine points for the game, but Growing Smiles had the last laugh, with their defense shutting down the scoring extravaganza by Moskowitz in the first half holding her only to a free throw in the second.

In the second half, Growing Smiles’ coach figured out how to get the ball to their star player, Fleischmann. She added four points to her first quarter rampage, scoring a total of 10 points, leading all scorers for Growing Smiles. Growing Smiles gets the win with a final score of 12-11. Great game to both teams.
