The Jewish Link and Drink Up would like to recognize Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey eighth grader Dovid Lichstein as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Lichstein, described by his sixth grade coach as “Mr. Hustle. Whether it’s a rebound, a loose ball or the opportunity to help another player, Dovid could always be counted on to clean the boards, sacrifice his body to get the ball and be the first player to offer another a high five or words of encouragement.” The coach’s sentiments were expanded upon by RYNJ Middle School Principal Rabbi Avi Bernstein who told The Jewish Link, “Dovid has demonstrated leadership skills on and off the court. While he’s a rebounding master on the court, he gives the same support to his friends who look up to him. Dovid’s middos, his thoughtfulness and giving attitude all define him as a leader.”

My parents, rabbeim and teachers for inspiring me to give it my 100% on and off the court.
What is your favorite sport?
Basketball, because it’s what I am best at.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
Making the basketball team as a starter my first year in RYNJ.
What is your pregame routine?
Running around the gym 10 times, then shooting 10 free throws and each one I miss is one sprint around the gym.
What is your earliest sports memory?
Playing soccer when I was 2.
What is your weirdest sports memory?
Breaking my collarbone during a football game.
What is your favorite sports memory?
Hitting a walkoff homerun to advance my baseball team to the playoffs.
