The Idea School welcomed Rob Stolker, owner of Hummingbird Sports, who came to speak to physics and engineering students about the need for safer helmet rules for female lacrosse players. As part of their course work, these students are studying the impact of TBI’s (traumatic brain injuries) and understanding the latest research, as published in a The New York Times article last week, that shows that helmeted players got fewer concussions. The students will be working with Hummingbird Sports as they come up with their own designs for women’s lacrosse helmets based on their understanding of physics and engineering concepts.
