TABC Varsity Hockey Storms to Championship

TABC Storm varsity hockey finished the season in first place with a record of 12-1-0-1. They were set to host the Rambam Ravens in the quarterfinals this past Sunday. The Storm had never faced the Ravens during the season so they didn’t know what to expect. Immediately from the drop of the ball, the Storm dominated and kept the ball in the Ravens’ zone for the majority of the first period. They took shot after shot, but the Ravens goalie was on top of his game and consistently stopped the Storm’s rushes. The first period ended 0-0. Throughout the second period, the Storm continued their strong play, and finally with just over a minute to go in the period, junior defenseman Sariel Rotblat saw an opening in the net and cheated up to put the Storm on top 1-0. TABC would not stop fighting and 45 seconds later, Jacob Mauskopf backhanded a goal from the point to make it 2-0. But the Storm were not done doing damage. Eleven seconds later, Eitan Adler hustled his way towards the crease to put TABC up 3-0, leading into the third period. TABC scored two more goals in the third period. Eitan Adler scored his second goal of the night and senior AJ Seplowitz added one to end the night with a 5-0 victory over the Rambam Ravens. Goalies Chaim Mermelstein and Adam Farbowitz combined for a shutout, and all of the TABC players contributed to the victory.

Next up, TABC faced the HANC Hurricanes on Thursday March 3,. TABC was determined to put forth a strong effort with results to show for it, and three minutes into the game, Ezra Becker scored, assisted by Moshe Keiser. Just four minutes later Joey Zelig beat the HANC goalie on a beautiful breakaway, and finally Adler knocked in a goal of his own, to end the first period up 3-0. The Storm did not let up in the second period, as they racked another three goals. Keiser led off the period with a goal from the point, and Seplowitz followed to make it 5-0. Next, Adler worked hard to score his second goal of the game, ending the period up 6-0. Becker added his second goal of the game in the third period, and the TABC Storm beat the HANC Hurricanes 7-1.

TABC now finds themselves in the varsity hockey championship against Frisch, on Sunday March 13, at 7:30 p.m. in DRS.
