The Drink Up Jewish Link Sportstar Of the Week: Isabel (Izzy) Nadritch

The Jewish Link and Drink Up would like to recognize Izzy Nadritch as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The 14-year-old Moriah School eighth grader was one of the many talented weapons on the YMSSA eighth grade girls undefeated championship team. When asked about Izzy, Moriah Coach Kristin Rainbolt told The Jewish Link, “Izzy is one who dares to take chances on the court and challenges herself daily to be a better basketball player as well as person. Her dedication to her teammates goes unmatched. Not only do her teammates look up to her and respect her but they also appreciate her kindness, enthusiasm, heart and drive.”

Izzy, congrats on the championship and for being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week! Who is your role model and why?

My role model is my mom because despite her full-time job and running our house and family needs, she always manages to spend quality time with me and my siblings.

What is your favorite sport?

My favorite sport is basketball and it has become my passion because I love being able to play my hardest, constantly working to improve myself while also having a fun time with my teammates.

What is your pregame routine?

Before every game, I make sure to take time to stretch and get in a good warm up.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

My greatest sports accomplishment is winning the YMSSA eighth grade girls basketball championship.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

My favorite athlete is Steph Curry because despite his size, he is a force on the court and always motivates his teammates. He is also known as the best 3-point shooter in history and watching him pushes me to improve my shot.

What is your favorite sports memory?

My favorite sports memory is having the opportunity to play with my team on the court in Madison Square Garden before a Knicks game.

What is your earliest sports memory?

My earliest sports memory is going to my first Knicks game when I was 6 years old.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?

When I am not playing sports, I love to hang out with my friends and family. I also love to listen to music and read.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

I am really proud of my team’s hard work and accomplishment this past season and being a Sportstar is something I share with everyone on my team.
