The Jewish Link and Drink Up would like to recognize Eva Kaminetsky as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The 16-year-old Naaleh 11th grader was one of the many talented weapons on the MYHSAL girls varsity b basketball championship team. When asked about Eva, Naaleh Eagles Coach Chaiy Bodek told The Jewish Link, “Eva Kaminetsky is the heart and soul of the Naaleh Eagles! Her stellar playing is matched only by her middos, positive energy and her cheering for her teammates. In the championships, Eva truly carried the team with her incredible effort on the court- rebounding, stealing the ball and scoring—and off the court with her enthusiastic cheering for all her teammates.”

Eva, congrats on the championship and for being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week! Who is your role model and why?

My grandmother, Savti, because she teaches me to always look at the positive.:)

What is your favorite sport?

I love basketball because I love to cheer on my teammates and overall I love being a part of a team. (It also helps to be 5”9 ?” lol.)

What is your pregame routine?

Shoot around, take a lot of layups.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

Winning the Naaleh championship this year.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

Kevin Durant because he loves his mom.

What is your favorite sports memory?

Winning the championship.

What is your weirdest sports memory?

I once accidentally poked someone in the eye with my fake nails.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?

Hanging out with my friends and family.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

The best thing about being a sports star is representing my school and my amazing team! GO NAALEH EAGLES!!!!
