Frisch JV Girls Soccer Brings Home the Championship

(Frisch Sports) On Wednesday June 8, the Frisch Cougars and Ma’ayanot Rapids matched up for the third time this season. The teams split the two regular season meetings handing each other their only losses of the year. On this day one team was going to walk away with the advantage on the seasons and more importantly the league championship trophy.

Frisch came out shooting with captain Ilana Gilad netting the first two goals, both bouncing off Ma’ayanot defenders before they finally got past Ma’ayanot goalie Chana Bin-Nun. Ma’ayanot’s Meital Rimberg answered back with a goal to bring the score to 2-1 at the end of the first. In the second quarter, Frisch’s Bria Toledano made an amazing shot to the lower left corner to put the score at 3-1. Rimberg rang the bell for two more goals for Ma’ayanot, tying the score at 3-3 at the half.

The Cougars came out of the locker room strong, Samantha Pruzansky scored her first goal of the one game. Danit Beiler followed with a goal from defense, and another two from Gilad, put Frisch up 7-3. Ma’ayanot’s Aviva Kurz fired back then scored one more to push the score to 7-4. Pruzansky ended the scoring with her second goal of the game as the Cougars doubled up the Rapids 8-4 to win the chip.

Throughout the game Kayla Yahalom made unbelievable saves to keep the Frisch Cougars alive, while Bieler and Betty Nagel played an outstanding defensive game against the Ma’ayanot offense and managed to contain them. Each player on the Cougars got out there, got minutes and gave it their all.

Although they were down, Ma’ayanot kept pushing and kept giving Frisch a run for its money. With an amazing defense consisting of Isabella Einhorn and Sorah Fischer and a great goalie in Bin-Nun and a stellar offense led by Rimberg, Aliza Guzman and Aviva Kurz, Ma’ayanot definitely made the game competitive.

A special thank you from the Frisch Cougars to their amazing coach, Kelly Vincent, who created a great game strategy and conditioned the team for the win!
