The BlueRocks swept the Rockhounds in a best out of three championship series to win the Rookie Division championship of the Elmora Youth League in Elizabeth.
Game one of the series was a see-saw matchup that took multiple extra innings to declare a winner. The entire team contributed to the win both defensively, on the mound and in the field, even turning a double play, and offensively, with a bases loaded walk off shot up the middle.
Game two was more of a low scoring one run game until the bottom of the fifth, when the BlueRocks busted the door open to go up by four runs. With the away team having their last at bat in the top of the sixth, the BlueRocks shut the door and gave up no runs winning the game 5-1 and the championship series!
Most importantly and proudly throughout the entire season, not only did each kid improve their baseball skills, come together as a team and post a 13-2 record, the team continuously acted with midot. The single Jewish team in their division, they won and celebrated with modesty and grace. What a kiddush Hashem! They proudly represented the greater Hillside/Elizabeth community.
