The Humble Toast Sportstar of the Week: Naama Davidovics

The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize Naama Davidovics as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The senior at The Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for girls is one of the many stars on the Rapids outdoor soccer team. When asked about Naama, coach Marisol Fonseca told The Jewish Link, “Naama has been the backbone/safety net of our defense this outdoor season. She is always encouraging and helping out her teammates on and off the field.”

Naama, congrats on being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week! Who is your role model and why?

My mom, because she’s very hardworking and gives her all to everyone. She went back to school and still took the time to take care of me and my brothers and help out other people.

What is your favorite sport?

Soccer, because it was part of my life since I was little. I would watch with my grandfather at his house and then when I started playing I fell in love with the sport.

What is your pregame routine?

I always listen to music and think about the game—and put my socks and shoes on in a specific order.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

Scoring a goal in my first game as a freshman. Everyone congratulated me afterwards and I felt really good.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

Megan Rapinoe, because she was on the winning World Cup team when I started watching and keeping up with soccer. She stands up for what she believes in and inspires me to do the same.

What is your earliest sports memory?

Playing TBO and quitting halfway through the season.

What is your weirdest sports memory?

When I fell in a game, everyone was more concerned about my bun falling out than me.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?

Drawing and hanging out with friends and family.

What is your favorite sports memory?

Playing at Red Bull Arena last year and going back this year—and winning.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

Getting to be in the newspaper and getting recognized for my hard work.

The Humble Toast Star of the week will receive a $25 gift card to The Humble Toast. Please send nominees for an upcoming The Humble Toast Jewish Link Stars of the Week to [email protected].
