Lions Score Massive Victory over Cougars

This past Wednesday the MTA Varsity Lions Hockey team took on the Frisch Cougars in the Lion’s Den. The game was a battle of two of the top teams in the division, both with talent to win the championship.

MTA took the momentum from its 7-0 win against HANC and continued it into the 1st period,

Gotham Burger Sportstar of the Week: Josh Levy

The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Gotham Burger would like to recognize 8-year-old Josh Levy as this week’s “Sportstar of the Week.” Josh not only has hockey in his blood, he has hockey coming out of all pores. He is currently a standout goalie in the Floyd Hall Ice Hockey League; this past summer he was the goalie


MTA JV Lions Win Again, Improve Record to 4-0

The MTA Lions JV basketball team tipped off against the Heschel Heat on Thursday night and once again walked away victorious. The Lions improve their record to 4-0, staying undefeated in regular season play. The final score was 48-36.

MTA Hockey Captain Sets Scoring Record

In a decisive Yeshiva Hockey League Eastern Conference matchup, the MTA Varsity Hockey Lions stormed through the first place HANC Hurricane, led by a record setting effort by Captain Ami Rosenfeld of Teaneck.

The Lions set the tone early, controlling play and keeping the ball in HANC’s zone


Jewish Girls and Sports

According to Kidshealth.org and the Women’s Sports Foundation, there are five reasons girls should play sports:

1. Girls who play sports do better in school.

2. Girls who play sports learn teamwork and goal setting skills.



Seventh Grade Noam Knights Beat the Sting in Home Opener

The 7th Grade Noam Knights defeated SAR 46-26 in their home opener.

Noam dominated play to start the game, but missed a ton of easy shots and would have trailed going into the 2nd quarter had it not been for Ari Kaminetzky’s buzzer beater from the corner that gave them a 9-8 lead.


JV Rapids Wash Away the Lady Cobras

Last week the Ma’ayanot Rapids JV basketball team played an amazing game and defeated Kushner once again. In the first half, freshman Jessie Orgel scored 17 points for the Rapids including two 3-pointers and three 2-pointers. CMEK 6 Wins the War on the Floor

On December 3rd the CMEK 6th grade team defeated last year’s Bergen County champion Demarest Norsemen and captured the Wednesday Night War on the Floor Basketball Championship. Chad Meckles of CMEK told the JLBC, “It was a total team of effort.”


Moriah 7B on Fire

On December 8th, the Solomon Schechter of Bergen County’s 7th grade boys’ basketball team traveled to the Moriah School, hoping to record its first win of the season. As soon as the clock started, Moriah’s Rafi Lewis and Jon Comet took control of the game. Together, they each had numerous steals,


Bruriah Lightning Surges

On December 1st, the Lightning built a 10-point half-time lead and increased it to 18 just 2:40 into the 3rd quarter. The team then increased the lead against Magen David’s defense and eventually led by 28 at the end of the 3rd, where it remained for the duration of the game.
