Stein Yeshiva Learns The Parsha

Stein Yeshiva’s kindergarten (4s) used the parsha as a springboard for activities, as they learned about deserts and constellations, used binoculars to find stars in the sky, created maps, and made star-shaped picture frames. Each frame contained a picture of its artist to show that every child is one of Hashems’s stars. In “Cooking the Alphabet,” the children returned to the letter “c” to bake star shaped cookies. Parshas Lech Lecha inspired the new artist of the month—Van Gogh and his “The Starry Night,” of course! Hey, for Havdala, tied in nicely as the kinderlach rolled wax to make their very own candles. Ivrit was infused throughout the day as each new item was identified by its Hebrew name. Voting for Election Day, Chodesh Cheshvan, and the fall season also featured in activities throughout the week.

The 2-year-olds also learned the story of the parsha and discussed what they would take with them on a long journey. They made their very own “suitcases,” which doubled as a match-it game, and were so excited to “pack” their suitcases over and over again. With everything “packed” the children traveled over a sensory road, where they stopped to explore the textures and then continued on to a new “land.”
