TABC Baseball Takes Down Hillel Heat in Wild Extra Inning Affair

(Courtesy of TABC sports) The TABC Baseball team traveled to the Jersey Shore on Mother’s Day to take on the Hillel Heat for what was a crucial game for both teams in determining playoff positioning. The Storm came out of the gate strong, taking an early 3-0 lead via RBI sacs from Etai Berkovits ’27 and Michael Greenberg ’25, and an RBI double from Allan Rozner ’28. The lead suddenly disappeared in the third inning when the Hillel bats started to catch fire. TABC reclaimed the lead 4-3 off Hillel errors in the field and hung on all the way up until the last inning with Sammy Levine ’25 pitching lights out from the mound. Then the drama began. Levine was forced out after going above his pitch count. Hillel were down to their final out and tied the game after an error by TABC. The Heat had the chance to walk it off but the winning run was tagged out at home, forcing extra innings. No team broke through in the first frame. In the ninth inning, Shia Forgash ’25 belted a towering double over the outfielder’s head to give the Storm a 5-4 lead. In the bottom of the half, Hillel were able to move their runner up to third. Thanks to heads up play by Shaya Bodner ’26 on first, the Storm were able to record the final two outs of the game and preserve the all too important victory. TABC are hoping this win will be the spark they need as they head into the Columbus Baseball Invitational this weekend!
